AA Great Sacrfice
Cork servicemen
who died in the great war
Editors: Gerry
White and Brendan O 'Shea
This book is
the fruits of a Book of Honour project launched by the Cork
City and County Vocational Education Committee.
March 2009 began
the initative to produce an accessible record of the men and
women from Cork City and County who lost their lives in the
Great War. The Book represents the culmination of that work
and provides information on how these people died, the location
of their graves, the places where they are commemorated and
the historical context within which the war was fought.
2nd June 2010
,The Rt. Hon. Lord Mayor of Cork ,Cllr. Darragh Murphy and County
Cork Mayor Cllr. Derry Canty launched this Book in the City
Hall Cork.
It is hoped that
this book will finally bring closure to those families who seek
it, and due recognition to Cork's war dead who most certainly
deserve it . They fought and died in order that succeding generations
might live in freedom we take for granted. Their sacrifice was
truly enormous and deserve to be remembered.
